Explore the intersection of history, sound, and visual storytelling with SOME WEATHER, a compelling new work by Los Angeles-based artist Nikita Gale. This signed, time-limited giclée print features a striking stick-on thermometer, serving as both a tangible and symbolic marker of the heat and pressure tied to the creative labor of Black women in rock music’s most celebrated moments.

Created to accompany Gale’s CIRCA 20:21 commission, SOME WEATHER reimagines archival footage of background singers who shaped the sounds of legends like the Rolling Stones and David Bowie. Their images, manipulated to transcend recognizability, challenge the viewer to consider their often-uncredited contributions and the broader erasure of their artistry. The stick-on thermometer, a motif of sensitivity and measurement, echoes the emotional and physical labour embedded in their performances.

Available throughout June 2021, this print is not only a striking addition to any collection but also a thought-provoking commentary on recognition, creativity, and resilience.

Secure your piece of this powerful narrative before it’s gone.
